** Due to the popularity of the Welsh Boiler Scrappage Scheme all available vouchers have now been issued and the scheme has now been closed to new applications. **
The boiler scrappage scheme in Wales will provide up to 5,000 eligible homeowners with a £500 voucher towards the cost replacing an inefficient boiler ('G' rated) with an 'A' rated (or equivalent) boiler on a renewable heat microgeneration technology. If you are a homeowner, over the age of 60 and have a 'G' rated working boiler, you are eligible to apply for a £500 voucher.
If you have a gas boiler with a permanent pilot light it is highly likely to be a 'G' rated boiler. If you have a gas boiler over fifteen years old, or an oil boiler over twenty five years old, it is likely to be eligible.
You can search against your boiler make and model to see if it is 'G' rated by clicking on one of the links below:
New boilers have a 90 per cent or higher efficiency rating which means that they produce less CO2 and generate lower running costs. As a result of this your heating bills should reduce by about a quarter, a saving of about £235 a year.
The online application for the Welsh Boiler Scrappage Scheme is currently unavailable. Please contact a customer advisor on free phone 0800 316 2816 if you wish to make an application.

A letter containing the voucher will be sent to you detailing names of up to six registered installers working in your area. The voucher is only able to be used towards work carried out by scheme registered installers.
Your letter with voucher will have a unique reference number; therefore photocopies will not be accepted. The voucher is valid for three months. If the voucher is not used within this time, it is possible to reapply. Please remember that funds are limited so the offer may not be available if a reapplication is made.
You may then contact one or more of the installers on the list to carry out a technical survey and provide a quote. We recommend that you obtain more than one quote. You can then decide which installer you want to carry out the work and contact them directly to arrange an installation date.
Once the installation has been completed and you are satisfied, the installer will provide you with an invoice for the work, showing a £500 deduction. You will then provide the installer with your signed voucher to enable the installer to claim the rebate from Eaga.
If, for any reason, you are unhappy with the installation works, you should approach the installer directly and agree a solution. Any remedial works should be carried out to your satisfaction prior to the submission of the voucher. Eaga will carry out a verification check on a proportion of installations to confirm that measures have been completed and customers are satisfied.
